Studio Background

Since its completion in 1956, Capitol Studios has been a staple of the recording industry. Iconic artists like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and The Beach Boys first gave life to its rooms and to this day, major icons of popular music continue in their wake.

Studio Refurbish

Capitol Studios was recently fully refurbished to ensure that we remained a cutting edge, state-of-the-art facility where artisan craft can continue to thrive as it has for the past 60 years.

1956

Capitol Studios Opening

Capitol Studios opens its doors. The first artist to record here is the legendary Frank Sinatra.

1963

Surfin' USA

The Beach Boys record their iconic record ‘Surfin' USA’ at Capitol Studios. It has since become the signature sound of Southern California.

1977

Carole King

Carole King comes to Capitol to record a number of singles including 'God Only Knows' and 'In The Name of Love'

1985

Bob Seger

Bob Seger & Silver Bullet Band records at Capitol Studios in 1985 & '86

1999

Elliott Smith

Smith's classic "Figure Eight" album is recorded.

2004

Ray Charles & Green Day

"Genius Loves Company" & "American Idiot" recorded at Capitol Studios.

2013

Arcade Fire

MTV hosts Arcade Fire on the rooftop of Capitol Studios. Hollywood blvd is shut down and the show is open to the public.

2014

Studio Relaunch

Capitol upgrades its equipment and décor to become a completely state of the art facility.
