Capitol Studios A & B

Capitol Studios A & B are joined by a collapsible wall, which opens to create a single space large enough to accommodate full orchestral sessions. These studios are available for scoring, filming and live events. Scoring projects have included The Oscars, and the studios were featured in such films as the Ray Charles biopic, Ray.

// About Studio A

Studio A is our largest recording room, with over 50 years of recording history. This famous room helped shape the sound of enumerable legendary artists and their music.

The space is ideal for both acoustic and electric instruments. It features over 1,500 square feet of floor space, two large isolation booths, the choice of a Yamaha C9 piano or a New York Steinway "B", and a large private artist's lounge.

The control room is ideal for mixing as well as recording with its 60 input Neve VR console fitted with Flying Faders Automation and a full 5.1 surround monitoring panel. The control room monitors are custom built Waterland/TAD speakers with Hafler amps and Genelec nearfields.

The studio is video ready with house sync plus video, digital distribution and WIFI.

We boast a treasure chest full of the finest in classic analog equipment. Our selection of recorders and outboard gear include: Studer 827s, Ampex ATR 102/104, Apogee 2tk converters, Summit Audio TLA 100s & EQP 200s, UREI 1176LN, SSL FX G384, Fairchild 670 Stereo Compressor/Limiter, Drawmer DS201 gates, a selection of EMT plates and full access to Capitol's natural echo chambers designed by Les Paul.

Digital effects include: Lexicon 480L, 300 and PCM 70, Roland SDE 3000A, Eventitde H3000SE/B, T.C. Electronic 2290 and Yamaha SPX1000. An extensive list of floating effects is available. This room is also available with a Pro Tools HD system.

// About Studio B

Studio B is the smaller of our two recording rooms but still encompasses 1,023 square feet of floor space (19,440 cubic feet).

This room has been used to record a long list of memorable rock albums over many years, from The Joker to American Idiot. The adjustable decay times allow for the room to go from hard and short to long and big. Touted as one of the best drum rooms in Los Angeles, Studio B is also responsive enough to handle the high demand for string and orchestra sessions.

The room has one isolation booth, a large private artist's lounge overlooking the studio, and the option to reserve a Yamaha C9 piano or New York Steinway "B".

For total indulgence in analog fidelity, the control room is fitted with an autographed Rupert Neve 8068. The console is 56 inputs with a Fred Hill designed monitor section, full 8 channel mix down and Flying Faders Automation. The monitors are custom built Augspurger/TAD speakers with Hafler amps and Genelec nearfields.

The studio is video ready with house sync plus video, digital distribution and WIFI.

Studio B also features only the finest in analog recording and outboard processing equipment. Available are: Studer 827s, Ampex ATR 102/104, Apogee 2tk converters, Pultec EQs, UREI 1176s, Teletronix LA-2As, Fairchild 670 Stereo Compressor/Limiter, DBX 160x & 900, a selection of EMT plates and full access to Capitol's natural echo chambers designed by Les Paul.

Digital effects include: Lexicon 300 & PCM 70 and Yamaha Rev 7. An extensive list of floating effects is available. This room is also available with a Pro Tools HD system.
